Background and Education
Dr. Guy Ball is an orthopedic surgeon at Rochester Hills Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, specializing in shoulder, hip, and knee surgery.
Originally from Mount Pleasant, Michigan, Dr. Ball completed his undergraduate studies at Alma College, where he majored in Physiology and was a four-year member of the golf team. He went on to earn his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Following medical school, he completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at McLaren Oakland, and then pursued a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Massachusetts. During his fellowship, Dr. Ball trained under Dr. Brian Busconi and gained valuable experience providing on-field coverage for the Boston Red Sox and their AAA affiliate, the Worcester Sox. He also served as a team physician for Worcester State University’s football and men’s hockey teams. His fellowship enhanced his expertise in both open and arthroscopic sports-related surgeries.
Surgical Expertise and Patient Care
Dr. Ball has a particular focus on complex shoulder procedures, including revision shoulder arthroplasty, open Latarjet, and arthroscopic shoulder stabilization. He is also dedicated to hip preservation, using hip arthroscopy to promote joint longevity. In addition, he performs ACL and multi-ligament knee reconstructions, treating both amateur and professional athletes.

Whether it’s helping a collegiate athlete recover from an ACL injury or enabling a patient to return to the golf course after hip surgery, he brings the same dedication and compassion to every case.
