About Dave Boyer, ATC, MS, CSCS

Dave Boyer brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the RHO family as the Clinical Director of Physical Therapy. With over 35 years in the sports medicine field, Dave is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association as a Certified Athletic Trainer and by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist for the past 28 years. Most recently, he expanded his expertise by earning a Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Sports.

 

Dave’s career includes an impressive tenure in professional sports. He spent five years in the International Hockey League with the Detroit Vipers, serving dual roles as Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach. From there, he advanced to the National Hockey League, where he worked as Head Athletic Trainer for both the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers. He later returned home to Michigan to join the Detroit Pistons organization, serving six years as Assistant Trainer and Assistant Strength Coach. Beyond his professional sports experience, Dave has also owned and operated a physical therapy clinic in Weston, Florida, before returning to the Detroit area.

 

Throughout his career, Dave has developed a strong foundation in sports injury management, rehabilitation, and human movement science. His approach emphasizes both the physical and mental aspects of recovery, helping athletes return to competition safely and confidently. Known for his ability to connect with patients, Dave is passionate about guiding individuals of all levels back to the activities and sports they love. In addition to his work with RHO, Dave is building Exercise Innovation, an online sports medicine consulting service that integrates mental and physical performance strategies with injury management and recovery.
